My cousin Emily is expecting her first arrival on Valentine's day, so I decided to make the baby a quilt.
I chose the Wonton quilt pattern by Jaybird Quilts.

Splash
A quilt that was not on my radar at the beginning of the quarter is now complete.
Splash was made for my good friend Scotty's son. His favorite colors are blue and pink, so I thought Splash by Jaybird Quilts would be a great pattern to chose.
Here is a photo of the quilt in process:
Love the backing fabric:
And here is the finished quilt. I hope the 6 yr old recipient loves it! I gave it to my friend last night and he absolutely loved it.

Christmas Presents - Rock Candy
For Christmas this year I decided to make my mom and my boyfriends mom table toppers. Once again I used a Jaybird Quilts pattern....can you tell I love her patterns? The pattern I used is called Rock Candy. I love how the table toppers turned out. Hopefully the recipients love them too.
Here are the two for my mom:

And here is the one I made for my boyfriends mom:
I also have a fourth table topper in process, but it still needs to be quilted. Stay tune for more on this project.

Hugs & Kisses baby quilts - Baby #1 (Blue)
I am a bit late posting this but I finally finished the baby quilts for my cousin who had her twin girls in November.
I used the Jaybird Quilts Hugs and Kisses pattern to make each of these quilts. Since they look identical, even though I changed the placement of fabrics, I did the binding in different colors. One has red and the other has blue binding.
Here is the blue quilt.

Zig Zag Quilt - Q4 Finish
Project number 3 on my goals list for Q4 was my Zig Zag quilt. My friend told me he would like a blue and gray quilt and it wasn’t till I was half way done with the top that I realized I was making a Detroit Lions quilt, basically, when I am a huge Bears fan. I have finished the quilt, and did a bit of custom quilting. Most of the quilt has spirals but I also took the opportunity to write Go Lions, Barry Sanders and his name in the quilting.
I was at retreat when I finished the quilt, so I did a little photo shoot. Here are some of the photos.
Quilting of Barry Sanders, my friends favorite player, since the quilt doesn't have the Lions colors, it then can at least have his favorite players name and his team quilted into it.

Q4 Finish-a-long Goals
For quarter 4, I would really like to get some of my UFO’s off
this list.
#1 & #2 Baby Quilts - will be to finish the last of the baby
quilts. I have two to make for my cousin
who is expecting twins in November/December.
I will be using the Jaybird Quilts Hugs & Kisses pattern with a Red, White and Blue jelly roll that I purchased a few years ago.
#3 Zig Zag - Number 3 on my list is a quilt for a good friend
of mine. He told me he would like a blue and gray quilt and it wasn’t till I was half way done with the top that I
realized I was making a Detroit Lions quilt, basically, when I am a huge Bears
fan. Oh well, he loves the top so far,
so this just needs to be quilted, bound and labeled.
#4 Leaf quilt - I made some progress in 3rd
quarter, and decided it would be a twin sized quilt, however it was not
finished. I am hoping to finish the top
at retreat in a week and a half. Then I
will just need to quilt, bind, and label it.
#5 Dr. Who – So yes, this has been on
my list for a long time. And yes it is
overdue for being complete. Hopefully it
will get done this quarter.
#6 Winter quilt - hand stitched. I started this project at the beginning of 2015 when I was traveling for 7 weeks for work. I have about 5 or 6 of the 12 (I believe) stitching pieces done. I would love to get the rest of them done and sewn up into the quilt.
#7 Wall Hanging: Totem Poles – need to finish the appliqué
#8 Grandmother's flower garden – Not sure how this will end up looking….but I want it finished and off the list.
#9 Baby Quilt - So I just found out yesterday that my cousin is prego with her first child. Of course this baby will need a quilt. So I will be making a baby quilt from on of the Jaybird quilt patterns in Rainbow colors.

Q3 Finish-a-long Summary
Now that I am back
to quilting for the 3rd quarter of this year, I have been busy! You can find my goals for the quarter on my
previous post.
Here is where I
stand at the end of the quarter:
#1 Snack Time baby quilt -
This quilt needs to be quilted, bound and labeled.
First up on the list was Snack Time,
a pattern by Jaybird quilts. This quilt
was for my friend’s baby, and has been completed! It was a gifted a bit after the arrival of
the baby.
#2 Chevron baby quilt - This
quilt needs to be quilted, bound and labeled.
Next on the list was Giggles, a chevron
pattern by Jaybird quilts. This quilt
was for my cousin’s baby, and has been completed! It was really late arriving at my cousin’s
house, but luckily the baby is none the wiser.
#3 Triangle baby quilt - This quilt
needs to be quilted, bound and labeled.
The third item on my list was the
Triangle baby quilt named Lotus, a pattern by Jaybird quilts. Have you noticed yet that I like LOVE
the Jaybird Quilt patterns? If you have
never heard of here patterns before you have to check them out. Yes, there are special rulers, but they are
used in tons of quilts and are well worth the investment! This quilt has been completed and mailed off
to my cousin’s baby.
Not sure if you have noticed buy I
have a lot of baby quilts that I have been making. The Lotus quilt makes for 6 completed baby
quilts this year for family (one friend that is basically family)! Those 6 quilts don’t include the two for a
cousin who is due with Twin’s in the November/December timeframe, and another
cousin (who I don’t talk to) who had her baby in September (not sure if I will
make a quilt yet….so short on time).
Anyway, back to my quarter
goals. Here are the other quilts I said
I would get done this quarter. Unfortunately
they are not complete.
#4 Leaf wall hanging or quilt - I made some progress this quarter, and decided it would be a twin sized quilt. However it still needs to be finished.
#5 Dr. Who
- I have been bad with my Dr. Who quilt. It has not been touched in
months and is sitting quietly in the closet waiting to be worked on.
Hopefully I can find some time to dedicate to this quilt.
#6 Grandmother's flower garden – Need to decide on a design....or make more flowers
#7 Wall Hanging: Totem Poles – need to finish the appliqué

Lotus Baby Quilt
The last of my finishes for the weekend was Lotus, for my Cousin
Jessica’s new baby girl. The baby was
born about 3 months ago, so it’s about time I finished the quilt and mailed it
off.
At the beginning of the quarter it was just a quilt
top. As usual I did the quilting on the
machines at Quilting-by-you. This time I
went out of my comfort zone, as I have wanted to try my hand at stars. Since the fabrics are so busy I figured this
was the best time to try it out. I think
the quilting turned out okay, but I without question need to practice stars
some more. Hopefully I can get this quilt mailed out this
week as my cousin knows it is complete, thanks to social media, and will be
looking for it in the mail. I hope she
likes it when she sees it, as it is quite different than the one I made for her
other daughter!

3rd Quarter goals: Goal posting
Snacktime baby quilt
One of my quarter three goals was to finish Snacktime for a good friends baby. I hoped to have the quilt made before the baby was born, thus it is gender neutral. Unfortunately I was a bit slow and Everly has joined her mom, dad, and brother over a month ago. Good news is that the quilt is now complete and it is ready to gift to the new arrival.
At the beginning of the quarter the quilt was just a quilt top, so I quilted it at my local shop, Quilting-By-You and added the binding and label. Here is the final quilt.
Pattern: Snacktime by Jaybird Quilts
Giggles Baby Quilt
One of my quarter three goals was to finish Giggles, the
Chevron quilt for my cousin's son, Miller.
The baby was born earlier this year and is probably at least 6 months
old, but I was quite busy this summer, so it finally got done.
At the beginning of the quarter it was just a quilt top, so
I quilted it at my local shop, Quilting-By-You, where I can rent time on one of
their machines. I also had to make and
apply the binding. Here is the final
quilt. I hope to mail it out this week,
so the baby can begin enjoying it.

Busy weekend of finishes - Alabama lap quilt
Over the weekend I was on a mission. I had three quilts that had been sitting for
a month waiting for the binding to be hand stitched, and a fourth quilt I
started about two weeks ago that needed binding to be made and stitched. I decided that since my machine needed to go
in for its yearly cleaning I should probably make the 4th binding,
machine the binding on, and make the 4 needed labels. While I was doing that I figured I might as
well finish appliquéing the last 8 leaves for a different quilt that is in
process. I am happy to say that all four
quilts are done and now deserve to be shown off.
Three of the quilts were on my Q3 finish-a-long list, so
they will each get their own post.
The 4th quilt I made was for a dear friend’s
mother. She spends a good portion of her
day sitting down, and she is an Alabama alumni, so I thought it was only
fitting to make her a small lap quilt.
This quilt is based on the Giggles pattern by Jaybird Quilts. I altered the pattern to make the quilt 2
colors and then added the appliqued “A”.
The quilt in total took just about 5 yards of fabric. I bought 2 yards of the silver and 4 of the crimson
and had some left over from each piece, but not much. The back is the crimson fabric from the
front. The quilt was quilted on a long-arm
by me, at my local shop Quilting-By-You, where I can rent time on one of their
machines. There is a label on the back
but I am not going to show it because the recipient has not received it yet.
Sorry for the lack of photos...
So
a few months back I had to change my email address for personal reasons, and I
thought I transitioned all of my photos and my blog appropriately. When I got in to write my upcoming posts
today I noticed my header photo was missing, and as I dug deeper I noticed all
of my posts from when I had my old email address are missing all of the photos.
Good
news is I still have all of the photos…
Bad
news is I have to manually touch all of the posts to re-add the photos. This may take a bit, so “pardon the dust”
while I work to get my blog back in order.

Q3 Goals
So I have been MIA for the last 6 months....so it's time to remove all of the cobwebs and get back to setting my quarterly goals. During the last 6 months lots have happened here on the home front, including 7 weeks of travel for my day job, moving to a new town and a quilt retreat (in no particular order).
For Quarter 3 I plan to complete the following projects:
#1 Snack Time baby quilt - This quilt needs to be quilted, bound and labeled.
#4 Leaf wall hanging or quilt - I have not decided what size this one will be. Right now it is all cut out as a wall hanging.
#5 Dr. Who - I have been bad with my Dr. Who quilt. It has not been touched in months and is sitting quietly in the closet waiting to be worked on. Hopefully I can find some time to dedicate to this quilt.
#6 Grandmother's flower garden – Need to decide on a design....or make more flowers

Zig-Zag Batik Quilt
So all I had to do is add borders to this quilt and it was be ready to quilt. I was able to sneak this one in and was able to get it quilted and completed. I started this quilt back in March at Quilt Retreat and finally got it completed.

Q4 - Goals Wrap-up
Time to check in on where I am at with my Q4 Goals! This
quarter I had high hope of completing much of my to-do list. Here is where I am currently at. Please note
I have linked back to the completion post which provide some additional
details.
Quilt #1 – Red/Whiteand Black couch Quilt
Great news – This quilt is complete. Here it is, in its new home….my living room. It’s
a much needed addition to the room as I always seem to be cold when I spend evenings
in the living room.
Quilt #2 - Sister's Choice
More great news is that I finished my Sister’s Choice quilt (Bonnie
Hunter pattern) and it is on its way to my sister and her husband across the
country in the state of Washington.
Hopefully they will like the new addition to their home.
Quilt #3 - Science Fair
Earlier this year my nephew and son both moved from toddler beds to their “big boy beds”. As such neither of them had quilts large enough for their new beds. This Christmas that will change. I have just finished the binding on the quilt for my nephew. It is Science Fair by Jaybird Quilts and should be bright and full of cheer in his room.
Quilt #7 - Son's quilt
Now I am going to skip around a bit, as I decided to make this
quilt a bit higher on my list. Since my
nephew is getting a quilt for Christmas, and my son needs a larger quilt also,
I figured I better get busy. I ended up
deciding on Night’s Sky by Jaybird quilts for the pattern. It went well with all of the bright colored
fabric I had picked out. I also have to
say that I have fallen in love with Julie’s patterns. She gives such great directions these quilt
block centers went together during my weekend at fall quilt retreat. So happy with how this one turned out. Hope my son likes it!
Quilt #5: Zig-Zag Batik Quilt
So all I had to do is add borders to this quilt and it was be ready to quilt. I was able to sneak this one in and was able to get it quilted and completed.
Quilt #6: Snowball Quilt
This quilt I hoped to have on my bed for winter, and it happened! This quilt had been sitting since march with only the borders still needing to be added and the quilting to be completed. I am happy to say it is complete!
Now on to the sad news….the neglected UFO’s
that I thought I would get to this quarter, however they still sit…untouched…
Quilt #4 – Dr. Who
I have been bad with my Dr. Who quilt. It has not been touched in months and is
sitting quietly in the closet waiting to be worked on. Hopefully over the holidays I can find some
time to dedicate to this quilt. For now
it remains unfinished.
Lastly I can’t forget the quilts that I had no intentions of
finishing this year, but wanted to keep track of. I will add these to my 2015 list.

Snowball Quilt
This quilt I hoped to have on my bed for winter, and it happened!
This quilt had been sitting since March quilt retreat with only the borders still needing to be added and the quilting to be completed. I am happy to say it is complete!
I designed this quilt all from scratch, which did cause some issues...but I was able to work them out.
