This quilt was made for my Nephew's 6th birthday. It may look just like a quilt I completed last year, and that's because it is the exact same panel, I made for my son's birthday. When my son opened his quilt last year I could tell that my nephew really liked the quilt and was possibly a bit jealous of it. As such I started hunting for another kit...and couldn't find one. Fast forward to quilt retreat in October, and a shop owner who was attending showed the panel she completed, and I asked if she knew where I could find it for sale, and she said she had 2 left in stock.
I purchased one right then and there, and she mailed the kit a few days later.
I did use a different backing and binding on this one, as my son was really concerned they may mix them up (even though the labels have their names).

Your quilt has a wonderful story. I am so glad you found the kit for your nephew. And Birthdays are great for helping finish projects! Good luck if you are continuing in Q2.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am continuing in Q2. I have found over the past couple of years that the Finish-a-long is a good motivator for me to finish my projects. I think I am up to 5-6 tops that just need to be quilted and bound during Q2.
DeleteOh my goodness! My son would LOVE this quilt. Thanks for participating in the 2017 FAL on behalf of the global hosts!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jess. You may still be able to find the kit in shops, but I know it was really difficult for me to find online and in the IL/IA area.
