2019 FAL Q2 Goals

Last Quarters list was long, like 39 items long, and I finished over half of the items.  A couple of the items are ones that will take me quite a while and I knew they wouldn’t be finished.  But I did amaze myself with the number of ones that got completed.  This quarters list isn’t as long.  It’s finally starting to warm up here in the Midwest, which means that there will be more outside activities on the weekends.  My son really wants to get some Frisbee golf in, and I have a stone walkway to continue working on.  So here it goes.

1.    Elephant - Violet Craft – I have the trunk almost done.  I believe the last piece of the trunk is also done, but I didn’t attach it.  I took this to retreat as my back-up project in case I got everything else done.  Somehow, I had lots of time to work on this, after I got as far as I could on my other projects.  One needed to be quilted but I didn’t have any backing, and a second one I planned to quilt there but it ended up big enough that I decided I will just toss it on the long arm.

2.    Sweater #1 out of this cream fabric -  I have the fabric, and will use one of the Annelaine patterns I have, probably the coffee and tea pattern.

3.    Sweater #2 out of this grey fabric -  I have the fabric, and will use one of the Annelaine patterns I have, probably the coffee and tea pattern.

4.    Sweater #3 out of this fabric -  I have the fabric, and will use one of the Annelaine patterns I have, probably the coffee and tea pattern.

5.    Shirt #1 out of this fabric -  I have the fabric, and will use one of the Annelaine patterns I have.

6.    Shirt #2 out of this fabric -  I have the fabric, and will use one of the Annelaine patterns I have.

7.    Shirt #3 out of this fabric -  I have the fabric, and will use one of the Annelaine patterns I have.

8.    Shirt #4 out of this fabric -  I have the fabric, and will use one of the Annelaine patterns I have.

9.    Shirt #5 out of this fabric -  I have the fabric, and will use one of the Annelaine patterns I have.

10. Baby Hats out of this Blue variegated yarn (2-3 hats depending on what pattern I use).
11. Baby Hats out of this  Red yarn (2-3 hats depending on what pattern I use).
12. Baby Hats out of this Yellow yarn (2-3 hats depending on what pattern I use).
13. Baby Hats out of this Light Blue yarn (2-3 hats depending on what pattern I use).
14. Baby Hats out of this Royal Blue yarn (2-3 hats depending on what pattern I use).

15. Jelly Roll Rug out of this jelly roll.  I am addicted after taking a class at Quilt Addicts Anonymous in December.

16. Nova – So I ended up finding this cute black and yellow fabrics for this project, but since it grew from a small project to a bigger one I will be quilting this on the long arm, it’s just so much easier and I have more options for how to quilt it.  Now it just needs quilted, a label and bound.

17. Thread Catcher #1 - I will be making some thread catchers out of woven panels as gifts.  I made a sample one, and these are all going to be tricky, due to the thickness of the woven panels.

18. Thread Catcher #2

19. Thread Catcher #3

20. Thread Catcher #4

21. Thread Catcher #5

22. Thread Catcher #6

23. Thread Catcher #7

24. Thread Catcher #8

25. Thread Catcher #9

26. Thread Catcher #10

27. Block Swap – At retreat we swapped blocks.  I plan to get these made up into a quilt… finishing this depends on when the 9th block arrives.

28. Crocheted temperature blanket – I’ve gotten quite a bit behind, but hopefully I can get caught up this quarter.  I really want to finish this on in August, the week after my nephew’s birthday (as I will need that week’s average temperature to finish).  If I get too far behind it will go from a birthday present to a Christmas present, but hopefully that doesn’t happen.

29. Lanterns of Hope - Needs to be quilted and bound.

30.  I need to make a new Dave Ramsey wallet and bought these materials at the Fabric outlet.

31. Modern Trip Around the world - Needs to be Quilted and bound

There is a glimmer of hope that these will get done this quarter…. if I try really hard.  Ha-ha who am I kidding I doubt I will even touch these (unless moving them in my studio counts), but I really like keeping track of all my projects in one place.

32. Grandmother's Flower Garden (Queen) - This is my ongoing handwork project.  I think I still have quite a few more to make.
33. Pixelated Wolf Quilt - I still really like this wolf, but it is slow moving due to the number of triangles per row, and not having a place to lay the whole thing out.
34. Running Zebra - Paper pieced - Have the pattern and fabrics will be pulled as I go from my stash.
35. Zebra Head- Have the pattern and the fabrics will be pulled as I go from my stash.
36. Giraffe - Violet Craft - I have the pattern and fabrics (Cherrywood of course) all ready to go, but am waiting till I finish the Elephant to start this one.
37. Mountains - Violet Craft - I bought the pattern this summer when in the Seattle area and can't wait to make this one.  It may even get finished before the Giraffe.  Can you tell I am really liking Violet Craft's patterns?

Well that is my list.  It has defiantly diversified from what it used to be.  It’s no longer just quilting, but also creating garments and crochet.

I was on a binge this last week/weekend.  I was determined to get a couple more things done, and I did.  I finished #10 from my goals, and can't wait to wear it. I used the Annelaine Coffee and Tea pattern to make myself a new sweater.

2019 FAL Q1 - Finish - #6 Blue Sweater

I was on a binge this last week/weekend.  I was determined to get a couple more things done, and I did.  I finished #6 from my goals.  It wasn't until I went to write this post that I realized how poorly the color shows in my goals post.. I used the Annelaine Coffee and Tea pattern to make myself a new sweater.

2019 FAL Q1 Finish - #7 - Striped Sweater

I love how this sweater turned out, and have already worn it to work once!  From a distance you can't see the little flakes of colors, which makes it look really neutral, but then close up you can see the fun, bright spots of color.  I used the Annelaine Coffee and Tea pattern to make myself a new sweater.

2019 FAL Q1 Finish - #18 - Dark Green baby hats

2019 FAL Q1 Finish - #9 - Black Sweater

Every woman needs a good black sweater.  My go to Black sweater recently got a hole in the elbow, so in the trash it went (it was also well loved).  I used the Annelaine Coffee and Tea pattern to make myself a new sweater.  I LOVE my new black sweater and also wore it to work right after having it complete.

Baby Quilt and Lap Quilt

At the beginning of the quarter I didn't know my son was going to have a new cousin added to the crew in March, but once I found out I decided that Teddy would need a baby quilt.

Since I had made a quilt for all of his other cousins on that side of the family, except Emma, I also decided that I couldn't make Teddy a baby quilt unless I made a quilt for Emma.  So at quilt retreat I make each of the tops and then recently quilted them.

I picked two Jaybird patterns to do: Radio Way and Come What May.  These are both older Jaybird patterns, but I recently just acquired them.

2019 FAL Q1 - Finish - #37 - Biscuit Pin Cushion

I have finished goal #37 from my list!  Actually I ended up making not just 1 but 3!

I had a 5 day quilting retreat during my first quarter which allowed me to get a bunch of projects done, including this Biscuit Pin Cushion by Jaybird Quilts.  I didn't realize that is was a Giant Pin Cushion, so I was quite surprised at the size. I did use scraps left over from my Cookie Cutter quilt and had enough to make not 1 but 3 of these.  I gave one away to a friend that was at retreat and she was going to make it into a rice pack.  Apparently I didn't take a photo of the one I gave her.

I have finished goal #36 from my list!  I had a 5 day quilting retreat during my first quarter which allowed me to get a bunch of projects done, including this Jawbreaker by Jaybird Quilts.  As I mentioned in my goals I wanted to make this out of my stash, and I found the perfect fabrics to use!  I even had enough fabric to make 2 versions of this miniature.

2019 FAL Q1 Finish - #2 -2018 Block of the Month

My second finish of the year was my block of the month for 2018, #2 from my goals list.  This pattern was designed by Quilt Addicts Anonymous.  Stephanie at QAA has an awesome BOM again this year, even with a warm and cool option, but decided to take 2019 off of BOM's and just work on the other projects that are on my wish list.

Here is my finished quilt:

Here is the finished quilt:
